Anderson and Trenton Club Earn High Praise

The summer has been filled with recognition for the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton and its executive director. David E. Anderson was selected Executive of the Year by the Garden State Chapter of the Association of Boys & Girls Club Professionals. And, the Club was named a 2007 Gold Centennial Partner by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA).

Presentation of the Executive of the Year award took place last month in Belmar during the association’s annual summertime social event. Reginald J. Coleman, director of operations for the Trenton Club and chapter chair, was thrilled to present the award to his chief professional officer.

“When Dave started with the Club four years ago, enrollment was at 100. Now we’re at a little over 700 kids every day,” Reggie said. “Dave has grown our annual budget from just $350,000 to more than $2 million in just three years,” he added.

In selecting the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton as a Centennial Partner, BGCA officials noted the Club had demonstrated growth, impact, and dedication to the Boys & Girls Club Movement.

Trenton is one of only 20 Boys & Girl Clubs from among 4,000 nationally to earn the 2007 award. Centennial Partner recognition is determined by increases in membership and average daily attendance. The Club also was cited for conducting a It Just Takes One campaign to increase individual giving, observing National Boys & Girls Club Week in March, and celebrating Boys & Girls Club Day for Kids in September.

As part of the year long qualification process, Boys and Girls Club staff and board members attended workshops at which they recommitted themselves to the Boys and Girls Club of America’s Core Promise of Impact and Integrity:
  • To provide a safe, positive place and have a positive impact on kids’ lives.

  • To uphold high ethical standards in all areas, especially in overseeing finances, collecting membership and participation data, being good stewards of the donor dollar, and representing ourselves to the public.
