Youth of the Year Seniors Are College-Bound

Boys & Girls Club programs – such as Career Launch and Youth of the Year – are reaping great results among our senior high school members. Among the nine nominees for the Club’s 2008 Youth of the Year were six high school seniors, all of whom are headed for college.

Suegatha Kai, our Trenton Youth of the Year, is attending St. Peter’s College in Jersey City. Ashley Harris, who represented the Boys & Girls Club at the state competition, is matriculating at Howard University in Washington.

Shakila McKoy is attending Morgan State University in Dover, and Ayana Gibbs is bound for Morgan State University in Baltimore. Ryeshem Smith and Jeana Montes will begin their college careers at Mercer County Community College.

More than 25 Boys & Girls Club members were graduated from high school this spring and have solid plans to further their education in college or trade school.

Way to go!
