Dr. Olsen Takes Club Kids on Space Journey
Dr. Gregory Olsen delivered lively presentations about his space travel at the Boys & Girls Club on Centre Street and at each of its five after-school program sites in the City of Trenton. At the Robbins Elementary School (shown here), Dr. Olsen engaged young members with a slide show detailing the highlights of his journey. The talks were given at each school over the course of several weeks in the spring.
In September of 2005, Dr. Olsen became the third private citizen ever to travel into space when he successfully boarded a Soyuz spacecraft on a 10-day trip to the International Space Station (ISS). Since his return, Dr. Olsen has shared his experience with more than 100 school groups and civic organizations. Staff and Club members were especially pleased that Dr. Olsen chose to tell them his story because of the scientist’s long association with and support for the Boys & Girls Club.
