Golf Outing Is Big Success for Boys & Girls Club

More than 120 Club supporters participated in Swing for Kids, the annual Boys & Girls Club Golf Outing on Monday, June 25, at the Olde York Country Club. Both local and national corporations sponsored the event which raised $70,000 to help support the many programs and activities offered by the Club to hundreds of Trenton children every day.

Among the golfers enjoying the event was a foursome led by Scott Bertoli which won the low net contest. An eight-year veteran of the Trenton Titans and a longtime champion of the Boys & Girls Club, Scott spoke during the reception about his involvement with Club kids.

Presenting sponsor was Joe Massanova of Sun Microsystems. Joe served on the golf outing committee and hosted four foursomes. An exceptional group of volunteers from Merrill Lynch led by Will Fuller and Christine McGrath recruited sponsors for 13 foursomes.

For the first time in recent memory, the weather was below 98 degrees for the outing. This along with an earlier tee-off (9 AM) appeared to agree with the participants. An awards reception in the Olde York Clubhouse gave golfers the opportunity to mingle and collect their foursome photos. Many attendees voiced their pleasure with the outing, and more specifically, with the knowledge that their generosity would have a significant impact on the Club’s ability to serve kids this fall.

Additional sponsors included Janus Intech, MetLife, Innovative Technology Distributors, Legg Mason, Evergreen Investments, and IXIS Asset Management among others. Click here to view a complete list of sponsors and photos from the event.
