Alicia George volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club teaching cosmetology skills to middle school children in our after school program. With 25 years of experience, she can tackle any beauty crisis with a sense of calm and a smile on her face.

What Alicia enjoys most about cosmetology is being able to teach her craft, especially to young up-and-coming talent. Standing in front of a class and sharing her knowledge is deeply rewarding to her, especially when there are no strings attached.
The cosmetology class here at the Boys & Girls Club started out with all female participants, however, a few curious boys have wandered into Alicia’s class, interested in joining the group. She immediately embraced their curiosity.
“I’m having such a good time with the kids, says Alicia. “They burst into the room and right away ask what we are doing that day. Each week I have to top myself. ”
In her spare time, Alicia enjoys cooking, listening to music, watching movies (especially oldies with Cary Grant) and spending time with her family.
Her volunteerism extends beyond the Boys & Girls Club to include tutoring adults for Literacy Volunteers of Mercer County and serving on the membership care ministry team at her church.
“Maybe I’m molding some future stylists who will take the reign when the older ones step down, says Alicia. “I feel great when I can teach and the kids feel great walking away with knowledge they didn’t have before.”
