Character

Programs in this Program area empower youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image and good character, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and others’ cultural identities.

Youth of the Year
The Youth of the Year Program is a unique opportunity to recognize the achievements of our finest young leaders. The program is designed to promote and celebrate service to the Club, community and family; academic performance; moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability.

Each spring, the Club selects a candidate between the ages of 14 to 18 to represent the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton and compete to become the New Jersey Youth of the Year. The winner then participates in regional and national Youth of the Year competitions where they have the opportunity to win scholarships and meet high-ranking public officials, including the President of the United States.

Torch Club
